Nebraska has experienced historic flooding and extreme weat

Nebraska rescue teams have been pulling trapped residents out of flood waters since Thursday.

James Wilke, a Columbus farmer, got a call to assist a stranger, and never came home. Acco

”It is no surprise to anyone that knew James that when he got the phone call to assist eme

”With the guidance of emergency responders, James drove his tractor over the Shell Cree

k bridge on the Monestary Road and the bridge gave out. James and the tractor went down into the flood water below.”

CNN affiliates KOLN and KGIN reported the Nebraska Emergency Management Agenc

Singles present wealth of economic opportunitieslook to pro

The growing number of Chinese choosing to remain single may worry many of their parents, but the phenomenon has created ample opportunities for retail and service providers.

Many of them now target singles – who often have sizable disposabl

e incomes as a result of fewer family commitments – with products that suit their lifestyles.

Chen Xi, 29, a fashion industry consultant in Shanghai, said she has bought many products in recent years that

have been customized for singles, including a rice cooker, an oven, a refrigerator and a washing machine.

“These products come in smaller sizes than usual, which are perfect f

or people who live alone like me. I’m glad there seem to be more products on the market tha

t can improve quality of life and make things more convenient for single people,” she said.

In one clip, Carlson joked about wanting to invade Canad

while Iraq, on the other hand, “is a crappy place filled with a bunch of, you know, semiliterate primitive monkeys — that’s why it wasn’t worth invading.”

In another clip from the same year, 2006, he said he had “zero sympathy for them or th

eir culture” in Iraq, calling it “a culture where people just don’t use toilet paper or forks.”

In a third clip, Carlson — evidently joking — used a pejorative term for homosexua

ls to express his respect for the radio show’s host that he loved him “in a completely f****t way.”

Carusone told Hayes on MSNBC that Carlson seemed casual and comfortable in these radio chats.

”It sounds like you’re actually getting to see the real Tucker Carlson” in these clips, he said.

Carlson responded earlier in the day to the first batch of audio clips by urging people to tune into his show.

He opened on Monday night by describing what it’s like to be caught in “the great American outrage machine.”

No survivors in Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 crash near Ad

All 157 people on board an Ethiopian Airlines flight that crashed soon after taking off from Addis Ababa have been killed, the airline said on Sunday morning.

The plane, en route to Nairobi, Kenya, lost contact at 8:44 a.m. local time, six min

utes after taking off from Bole International Airport in the Ethiopian capital.

Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam, told reporters at a press conference that

the pilot had reported technical difficulties and asked for clearance to return to Addis Ababa.

He was given clearance to turn back, according to GebreMariam, citing the Air Traffic Controllers record.

The pilot was a senior Ethiopian Airlines pilot who had flow

n more than 8,000 hours. He had an “excellent flying record,” according to the CEO.

The aircraft, flight number ET302, went down near Bishoftu, southeast of Addis

Ababa. An airline spokesperson told CNN the victims were of 35 different nationalities.

The spokesperson said 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethio

pians, eight Americans, eight Italians and seven UK nationals were among the passengers.

Eight Chinese passengers were also on board, said Li Liang, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy to

The CEO visited the crash site on Sunday. He said the plane

right inside the ground” and it was not possible to identify whether i

t was an emergency landing or a crash. He said there was still smoke at the site when he visited.

”As it is a fresh incident, we have not been able to determine the cause. As I said, it is a brand new airplane with no techn

ical remarks, flown by a senior pilot and there is no cause that we can attribute at this time.”

”The routine maintenance check didn’t reveal any problems,” GebreMariam added.

Asked about the possibility of terrorism or sabotage: “At this stage we cannot rule out anything.”

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is the same type of plane as the In

donesian Lion Air jet that crashed soon after takeoff from Jakarta in 2018 — killing 189 people.

True, China still lags behind science and technology powerh

ouses in terms of investment in basic research due to several factors. But that should not prevent Chinese researchers from wo

rking to achieve breakthroughs that could change the world.

With further economic development and strengthened emphasis

on scientific innovation, the funding for basic research, that is, investment in research and d

evelopment, will undoubtedly rise. And when R&D investment increases, science and technology development ente

rprises will be encouraged to play a much bigger role in the scientific and economic development of the country.

The development comes on the heels of Thursday’s New York Time

that President Trump ordered Kelly to grant Kushner a top secret security clearance despite con

cerns raised by intelligence officials. The President has denied he had any role in Kushner receiving a clearance.

New York Times: Trump demanded Kushner get top-secret security clearance

The latest revelation also contradicts Ivanka Trump’s denial to ABC News three weeks ag

Several sources told CNN it is feasible that she was unaware of the red flags raised during h

er background check process, as well as the President’s involvement in it. According to a source fam

iliar with her process, she “did not seek, nor have, outside counsel involved in her process as no issues were ever rais

ed.” A separate person added that she was notified by career officials that her clearance had been granted.

Kushner’s clearance was downgraded in February 2018 after Kel

The Government Work Report presented by Premier Li Keq

iang contains a comprehensive review of the progress made in 2018 and the targets achieved. It al

so mentions the challenges and impediments faced in the process. It is significant that despite h

eadwinds in global economy, Chinese economy registered a growth rate of 6.6 percent. More than 13.6 million new urba

n jobs were generated. Unemployment was around 5%. China contin

ued to make strides in the fields of innovation and high-tech. Concerted eff

orts were also made to deal with the problem of environment pollution while infrastructure development was also on course.

For me the most impressive part is the government’s resolve to tac

kle the issue of poverty and create a knowledge-based economy. Projections for 2019 of 6-6.5% GDP g

rowth, creation of 11 million new jobs, an employment-first policy, supply-side structural reform and three critical batt

les against potential risks, poverty and pollution are reflective of key priority areas. Budgetary spending on educ

ation above 4% of GDP and over 2% on R&D shows that China is moving forward to establish a society which me

ets the needs of the people through scientific applications and modern technologies.
